The Two Bicycles

a pair of bicycles

rest in the garage.

One:

pink paint peeling and

rust gathering at the spokes.

they are dented and

old; used.

their seat holds a new sheen

smothering the forgotten below.

One:

green coat scratched and burned,

gears shredded, worn.

their chain fallen,

kicked aside,

covered in corner dust,

yet their wheels still turn.

the pair of bicycles

lean against one another

and stay.
